I've always had a strong passion for being in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. I come from an Italian family so of course food is an important part of family time, plus isn't the kitchen a gathering place at parties and get togethers? Anyway, I suppose that's how my passion started for being in the kitchen. When I think of the delicious smells that would always emanate from the kitchen... it brings back such vivid memories of my mother cooking as she was always in the kitchen when my brothers and I would get back home from school to whip up a snack and then again once my father came back from work to prepare dinner. I remember there was always soup and anti-pasta before every meal. My mother would make the most amazing lasagna or veal parmigiano... recipes that I myself still use today and are undeniably the best, something to rival any top Italian restaurant.
The first meal I made for my mom was macaroni and cheese back when I was around ten or eleven. I was quite proud of the way it came out... it had a delicious, white creamy sauce, some cheddar cheese and shells sprinkled with toasted bread crumbs. After that, I was always trying to come up with some sort of dish in the kitchen. I guess the baking came into play because I had a bit of a sweet tooth and so it's nice being able to make a dessert but finding a way to make it healthy, by adding whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour or eliminating the use of butter. It's a ton of fun to tweak recipes to make them healthy and delicious! But don't get me wrong, sometimes it's nice to just let go and back something completely decadent and fattening!
This website is basically a journey as I try to master the art of baking. I'll share my various recipes and hope that you the readers will share yours too. You'll also find reviews for various kitchen devices as I get to it! Please have patience and try to stay with me on this new journey. I hope you have as much fun reading this as I have writing and sharing my recipes.
